News from the interzone

As someone told me recently, the Spring opens people spirits... Well it has openned mine! I still don't know if the world works in a deterministic or random framework, and sincereously I don't care. Either way, the attractor that rules my life has suddently changed my course, but probably it wasn't even that. I found a new attractor, one that viollently pulled me from my previous trajectory throughout a boring, insalubrious life, into the oposite. Feelings very different from previous times have surfaced, when comparing motivations from old nostalgic pasts.
Thus, sorry for not presenting nothing new in this (already worse than it was) blog, but now I've been occupied with indeed much better things to do!
So, a word for the wise: live your lives, suck them dry and don't rely on opinnions that you have but you don't really know, for everything can change in a sudden instance. One may feel itself very adult, responsible and bored, but suddently you may observe yourself feeling like a child again.

What We Still Don't Know. Great!!!

Another great documentary!!!

What We Still Don't Know. This is the title of a documentary divided in three parts. Presented by renowed astrophysicist Sir Martin Rees, it deals with those questions that science still cannot explain. It follows the tracks of the recent scientific findings and ends in earthbreaking hypothesis.

It starts with the episode Why Are We Here?, which only by itself worths seeing this.

Are We Alone? continues by working on the changes in existing life somewhere on the universe (besides earth), but also on the almost impossibility in meeting these alien life.

Are We Real? The cherry on top of the cake. For me, the best part in this documentary.

Chaos Theory: application on life

Today I got news that say I should move on... In fact, that's what I've keep trying for the last times, but it looks the harder I try the more stuck I stay in the past... Well, this has served as an inspiration and after a bit of coding, here it is (don't misunderstand me, I just made the plot, this is Lorenz attractor)... Unfortunately, about the attractor that rules my life, that remains uncharted territory.

Pensamentos 2

Livro XII-17,

"While following our principles, it's demanded of us that we be similar to the boxer, instead of the gladiator. For the later, it's enough to let his sword fall in the ground to be immediately killed; while the first always has the change for a new punch; only needing to close his fist."

Book XII-9,

"If it's not convenient, do not do it; if it's untrue, do not say it: may all the initiative belong to you!"

Caos natural

My results on the quiz: What philosophy do you follow?

Well, nice quiz... only one big problem: the wuthor is assuming a guy is religious, or has a religion. Some 5 questions would assume that. For a person that would not believe in God, or even could believe but wouldn't believe that the scriptures would be the 100% word of God (and not even the law of God, since it resembles more the law of men), then how can you disagree or agree with things you can't have an opinnion... Well, but here it goes:

What philosophy do you follow? (v1.03)

You scored as Hedonism

Your life is guided by the principles of Hedonism: You believe that pleasure is a great, or the greatest, good; and you try to enjoy life’s pleasures as much as you can.

An essay on love, gratitude and hate

Woman, thou that have gained eternal gratitude towards this man, for it were his hands that have stole thy son's life, from certain death. Indeed this man came out of pure intentions, and he himself could have been injured beyond repair. Nevertheless, thy natural feelings towards him, that undoubtedly you have, are few besides gratitude. No better deed he could have done, to acquire your highest regard, but it is just that, regard. If not so, tell me woman: do you love this man? Besides your gratitude, there lies nothing more.

I wonder, what would happen if this man, this same man who has saved thy son's life, who was delayed his ultimate fate, and thus, gained the right to that life, would kill him, finishing death's deed. Would thy new feelings towards him be of mere ingratitude. I believe no, and these feelings would be of extreme prejudice, of pure hatred. Indeed they would be much more lasting than thy previous, and albeit these were solely based on gratitude (always below love), these last would rank the highest on the scale of disgust.

Can you see the point?

One image for a thousand words... and for music, how much?

Have you ever compared, and perhaps realized, the power of audio-visual information with just audio? Which of these, in your perspective, win? What would you prefer to choose, if you would have to opt by one?

Visual information is obviously extremely important, but I'm not writing about the ability to see the world around us, but of the visual information that is stored in some way, like a movie or TV, preferably one that has an audio component...
You see one TV series, and will you see it again? Or a movie? Well, I like a lot of films, and some I will see more times in the future, but it would be difficult to watch a movie twice in the same day. I mean, is it not a story, that loses a bit of its fun after knowing its closure? Of course, there are brilliant exceptions, like David Lynch films, or the excellent photograph in Kubrick's films... but the bottom point is: to see films twice... difficult (and even more with TV series!!!).

Now, with music, well? Isn't that a whole different matter?... How many times a day can you repeat hearing the same music? How many times you sing in your thoughts a song, and in the first moment that you can spare, you go an hear it? For myself, I can sing a music in my thought, and even decompose it sometimes (if I know it well). But to hear it, is it not a pleasure? It has nothing to do with movies. It is a completely different power, this of these sequences of notes, flying through the air in tiny pressure waves. Is this not worthy of a thousand images? Is it not amazing the time you can give of yourselves, just listening to music? Well, I can and I'm glad.
